I decided to give running a guild another shot. I was really impressed with all the things that blizzard had done and I wanted to see how well they worked. I really liked the guild recruiting interface they added in 4.1. The other feature I really liked was the whole guild leveling system. They seemed to have put slot of work into it and in theory, everything they have done to get people to group up and stay in that group should work.
The main goal right now is to get to guild capacity and level the guild itself. Ultimately, I want to get back to raiding. So when we acquire all the positions need to start up a 10 man we will jump into raiding and continue to recruit up to 3 ten man teams and possibly get a solid 25 out of this. I have always liked running 25 man raids more than 10 mans, I guess I like the abuse too much.
I do want this “experiment” to have some guide lines so I can thoroughly evaluate the guild tools. I have decided not to use any other resources to recruit than the ones blizzard includes in the game, eventually I will use the server forums to fill spots in the raid teams we build, but for now I will stick to the in game tools.
As far as structure goes, I will be leaving the default ranks in place and won’t be adding to them. Right now there is guild master, officer, veteran, member, and initiate. Officer rank will be reserved for people I know. Veteran rank will be a rank for trusted members that put in the time and help out with the guilds direction towards the goal. Member rank will be anyone who lasts over 7 days in the guild without doing something stupid or just being a douche bag. Initiate is self-explanatory. I have the guild bank set up with 3 free for all tabs and one deposit only tab. Ranks have more withdraws the higher you go but all will have access to the bank. Right now I have it so that ALL members can invite new people but only officers can kick people out. I have it set like this so that the guild can basically run itself. I had the last guild set up like a communist country and it was way too much work and way to much stress to run. This time I want to trust that there are people out there who want the same things we all want and I expect to have to thin the crops of those who don’t. For the most part this is mention to be fun and not a job.
I will be posting updates up to let everyone know how it’s going and if this all works
For anyone who wants to hang out or join in on this venture, the guild is <Eviscerated> on the horde side of Kul Tirus-US. I know I am already outside of the in game recruiting tools but “why so serious, son?!”
